When Ronald Regan was President, I had respect for what he did. He brought the military up to strength and he was a strong voice in world politics. However, his economics were questionable. Cut taxes, great . We all like less taxes to pay, but he cut them at the top and the money saved by the wealthy was supposed to trickle down to the working family. Little did we know that the working families were living in Mexico, China and other third world places where labor was cheap. Those people took thier saved tax money and invested it in NAFTA and GAT and ourour jobs trickled overseas. We are really feeling it now. It was not all Bush's fault.
Now G.W. has signed a bailout (stimulus) bill that went to the bankers and they payed out huge bonuses and then invested the remainder into buying out other weak banks. The trickle went sideways and flooded the bank accounts of the people who engineered near bankruptcy in their own companies. According to that policy the man who sold the salmonella peanutbutter should get a nice payoff. His company is failing to a fault!
Let's try something new!! How about giving all of this next stimulus package to the working families of THIS country. I bet that they would all pay bills, buy things and use the money in a way that would move merchandise . Merchants would prosper and order new goods and the factories would get busy and hire people. A great TRICKLE UP would start. Money always flows uphill and ends up in the pockets of the rich anyway. It would at least start its trip up in THIS great country!
